Weekend Campaign Activities

Putting up campaign signs

We had a really great day of campaigning today in Prince William County. We began at Borders where, while waiting for volunteers to arrive, I passed out flyers and talked to the camera crew from Univision. We then visited a soccer field where we talked to families. Later, we met Pedro Aviles, Rebecca Villalpando, John Chamberlain, and my two nieces, Tammy and Tely. My neighbors Tara and her small son Josh came over to my house to assemble signs with my brother. I was also visited by the Acebedo Family. They picked up materials for distribution, a sample ballot and the listing of streets in my district.

We canvassed my neighborhood. We spent the afternoon putting up signs. We stopped by a Latino restaurant, El Rinconcito, where we spoke with the patrons and the owner. It has been a wonderful day of work.

T&T putting up signs

On Friday, I was also blessed with the company of the Currin Family. They drove up from Newport News with their three children. We distributed flyers and put up signs as well. We also were on the morning show of ZOL99.1 FM. I called in to WTOP’s Mark Plotkin’s show. In the afternoon we were met by NPR’s “Tell Me More” Show. There are articles about my candidacy in El Tiempo Latino and El Comercio. Both papers ran a front page story on the campaign.

We are doing it all over on Sunday. So, come on out. We need to go down to Cardinal Drive and put up some more signs and distribute more information. Some people are also going to go to churches and distribute flyers when churchgoers come out. It will be another fabulous day.
