Important Info for Election Day Volunteers

November 6, 2007

A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who has volunteered your time and energy to this campaign. Truly, we could not have come this far without your support!

Today is Election Day and we’re relying on you to help us staff the polls and inform voters how to vote for Aracely Panameno as a “write-in” candidate.

Below is a checklist of materials and information you should have on hand with you. If you can, please bring extra copies.

It’s raining out there, so bring an umbrella or two and dress warmly.

The sun is out, but it’s still cold out there! Nothing like voting under blue skies!

See you tonight at 7 pm at el Rinconcito Latino!

Volunteers for Polls Needed on Nov 6!

November 1, 2007

We need volunteers for 8 poll sites to work from 6:00 am till 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 6th.

A schedule will be posted for volunteers.

Election Day Volunteer Schedule:

6 – 9 am

9 – 12 noon

12 – 3 pm

3 – 7 pm

With these time slots, we potentially need a total of 64 volunteers to cover all time segments and all precincts.   That would be best case scenario.  Worst case, we need 1 person per time slot, or 32 volunteers.

At the polls, volunteers will remind voters to vote for Aracely Panameno and explain how to write-in their vote.

Volunteers should print a copy of the Sample Ballot and bring it to the polls.

The ballot has candidates for the VA Senate, VA House of Delegates, Clerk of the Court, the Commonwealth’s Attorney, Sheriff, Soil and Water Conservation Director, PWC Chair Board of Supervisors, NEABSCO SUPERVISOR, Chair School Board, and Neabsco School Board.

Getting Out the Vote

On October 29th at 1:00 pm, Latino leaders from the metropolitan
region joined the SEIU 32BJ in an effort to get out the vote. Latino elected officials Walter Tejada, Vice-Chair, Arlington County Board, VA; Ana Sol Gutierrez, State Delegate, District 18, Montgomery County, MD; Carlos Solis, Candidate for City Council, Gaithersburg, MD; and Aracely Panameño, Candidate for Supervisor, Neabsco District, Prince William County, VA spoke at a press conference organized by the SEIU 32BJ. Latino leaders representing community organizations included Gustavo Torres, Executive Director, Casa de Maryland; and Pedro Aviles, Executive Director, National Capital Immigrant Coalition.

The message on the importance of voter participation in the election is being disseminated. Now I need working hands to put together the signs, to post signs around my district, to hand out literature, and to staff the polls. Read the rest of this entry »

Sample Ballot

October 30, 2007

Attached is one of four sample ballots voters will see when they go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov 6.

Sample Ballot

My district, Neabsco, cuts across two VA Senate and two VA House districts.  Despite the four different possibilities due to the state races, the screen for the County Supervisor position is always the 5th screen.

VOTERS WHO WISH TO CAST A BALLOT FOR ARACELY PANAMENO MUST PRESS THE “WRITE-IN” OPTION.

A new screen with a keyboard will appear that will allow voters to type in my name ARACELY PANAMENO.

Misspellings, typos, and transpositions of letters on my name will NOT disqualify the vote.

Buenos días a todos,

As all of you know, this campaign began last Thursday night. I do not have a political organization. I have my computer, a couple of desktop printers, my old fax machine, and (thanks to my brother) fast speed access to the web. We need to be able to print thousands of materials: flyers, signs, lawn signs, stickers, etc. I’m attaching the documents I have created. I need people to assume responsibility for printing costs or copying. I cannot yet receive cash donations. Read the rest of this entry »
